Filming

Now that you are all filming your trailers I would advise you to refresh yourself with the "How to film links" particulary this one

Other tips.
1-Stick to your storyboard and make sure that your trailer does not look like it was filmed in one afternoon in school!
2-Each person in your group has a role and they must do their job. Props/Clothes/Location are particulary important at this stage.
3-Use the shooting schedule.
4-Do not take the tape home!

Good Luck.

Storyboarding

Now that the treatments and storyboards are in development remember to add as much detail as possible. This will make the filming and editing process more straightforward. Once the storyboarding is complete you will film it and upload it to the macs. This 'film' is called an animatic. This is a short example for a music video.

I have added a number of useful links related to storyboarding in the links section. Shot types can be checked here .Click storyboarding for more on Animatic.

Parody of the trailer 'voiceover'.

As you already know the Hitchhikers guide trailer does a clever deconstruction of the Movie trailer (see post dated Monday, 25 June 2007). Have a look at these 2 trailers. Enjoy them but remember to watch them a few times and make notes about the 'conventions' and language structures typical of the genre.

Trailer essay.

Work has now started on this. The focus must be 1408 and one other trailer of your choice. Use all the notes and advice we have given you. The essay must show the examiner your knowledge and understanding of trailers.

Make good use of the handouts given in lessons.

Teaser trailer

Here is a very interesting teaser trailer (although it is 1.55 long). It was for War of the worlds but it featured no actual footage from the finished movie.

The second one is very clever. It is a 'trailer 'featuring most of Spielberg films.

Click on the title 'Teaser Trailer' to have a read of a site run by another media studies teacher. It has some very useful info so I would advise that you also bookmark it.

We will recommend books, sites and othe material for you to use.Take a look at this clip for example...it is based on a book called 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' and it contains a definition of movie trailers.

(Click on the title 'Thriller Trailers' to get an excellent description of shot types. This will be very useful for your storyboards.)
